Working with Steve Vaughan was really fun. We had done a couple of group shoots and we had been trying to set up a one-on-one shoot. I really love the beach and thought a swimsuit shoot would be fun and it still warm so I had gotten a few new bathing suits. We met at Burger Boss and I really love that place because it’s all grass fed, organic and very healthy. I had something to eat and then we headed to the beach in Newport and just shot.
What I like about shooting with Steve is that he likes me to kind of just play and be myself and to be natural in my environment, so there’s not really a lot of formal posing going on, it’s just playing and having fun and seeing what works. I really enjoyed that shoot. I had done quite a few group and one-on-one shoots by then, so he was probably my twentieth shoot overall and maybe my tenth one-on-one shoot. The more I model, the more I can see that I’m becoming more natural and relaxed, breaking out of my shell.
This also helps me to feel more comfortable at group shoots. They can be a little scary at first because there are so many photographers coming at you and so many models and sometimes the photographers all want to work with one model. With a one-on-one shoot the photographer is there just for you and he wants you to look your best and you have time to do that and I love working with Steve. He’s wonderful, a gentleman and a real joy to work with.
