You’ll have seen on my blogs before that I like to embrace healthy eating options and foods that are low or sugar-free. Foods and drinks that will provide the best energy to get me through the day. It’s not always about losing weight, but I definitely don’t mind if my choices help to shape my body in stronger and healthier ways. Skinny isn’t the goal. Strong is.
However, I’d be lying if I said that there weren’t foods or drinks that I missed or still wanted sometimes. The trick is to find alternatives. No matter what eating plan or diet you follow, there will be recipes for the items that you thought you’d miss most. Truth is that everyone has something that they love to eat that may not be good for them. Perhaps t’s sugar or chocolate or dairy and every day there are great, tasty alternatives being developed that can help you feel less like you’re missing out.
I know that I find it easier to be disciplined about what I eat when I still get to have treats and cheats. Of course, everything is ok in moderation, so having a cup of coffee or frozen yoghurt or even a block or two of dark chocolate is perfectly fine. You just need to know your limits. It’s also important to understand what works best for you. I have seen people have amazing results while following the Atkins diet or Keto and then there have been just as many who have found that these didn’t work for them at all. Best is to try different things and see how you respond.
And don’t be afraid to allow yourself a cheat meal even if you’re unwilling to have a whole cheat day. Well known for being fit and healthy, even Dwayne Johnson indulges in notoriously decadent cheat meals… and I believe a little treat makes us happier overall.
