A Great book to read is “Art of Seduction”

Now, one of the best books I have ever read on acting actually had nothing to do with acting. The Art of Seduction by Robert Greene, who also wrote The 48 Laws of Power. Let me tell you, The Art of Seduction is literally is the best book on acting and filmmaking. It’s about storytelling, but it’s also very much about body imaging and finding out who you are. He does case studies throughout history. It’s definitely not for the people that are really into morals because he really goes into details about kings and queens and just some of the stuff that they did to each other and to other people. I won’t lie, it was pretty rough. However, he also goes over the nine different types of seducers and explores the male and female versions of each. He also explores how to seduce one person versus how to seduce the masses.

I find it very interesting because, you know, I always thought that to be gorgeous, you had to be a woman that was like Angelina Jolie, a beautiful sexual icon.

My mom would always say that I’m too manly, too tomboyish, and that guys don’t like that. Her advice was that I should calm down and basically shouldn’t be myself and this book covers that. One of the types of seducers that he discusses in the book is called a dandy. When a dandy is male, then to seduce, they act more feminine. If it’s the female version, they act more male. A lot of men are in fact very attracted to women that are tough and stand on their own two feet and are independent and act more typically male, women who can just hang out with the guys. And it’s funny because in the movies they always that the tomboys don’t get the guy, but I have never found that to be a problem for me. When, you’re young, you don’t care and you tend to just be yourself and, you know, that’s very seductive too.

So, he’s identified nine different ways to seduce and I believe that tapping into that and really nurturing that ability will help you find your parts in acting. In addition, playing those parts and playing up who you are is going to be your best bet in terms of acting or even in modeling. The key is figuring out who you are and what it is that that makes you “you” and unique. And this is great because there’s not only one type of beautiful person. There Are nine different types of seduction, ways of being able to seduce the other person and if you can tap into that, figure out what works for you and then use that, then in turn you will be seduce the audience.

One of my teachers used to use a term to describe this – and I don’t want to say it because it’s not really PG rated, but it’s basically are you “sexable”, but obviously the slightly more vulgar version of that. What it boiled down to was this… do people want to be with you?

And this is how it is in the industry. Just think of this from the audience’s point of view. If you’re the female, you’re usually envisioning yourself as the female lead. Women want to be her and men want to be with her. It’s the same with the leading men. Guys want to be him and women want to be with him. So that is something you have to take into account with lead characters and even with secondary characters, although I’ve been in the SAG offices in L.A. and let me tell you, everybody is gorgeous. They’re really good looking people, even the nerdy ones, and there is something about them that is so attractive and charismatic.

And this book, one of my teachers had recommended it as well, but Greg Bock recommended it to me. I had already read it before and knew that this was a gold mine for actors, literally a gold mine for artists and it’s a fantastic tool to help you start to figure out what your particular art of seduction is and then really nurture that.

  5. Good post right here. One thing I would like to say is most professional areas consider the Bachelors Degree just as the entry level standard for an online degree. Although Associate Certification are a great way to begin, completing ones Bachelors reveals many good opportunities to various jobs, there are numerous on-line Bachelor Diploma Programs available by institutions like The University of Phoenix, Intercontinental University Online and Kaplan. Another thing is that many brick and mortar institutions offer Online types of their degree programs but commonly for a substantially higher amount of money than the firms that specialize in online college degree programs.
